Richard Ludwick
President and CEORichard L. Ludwick
became president and CEO of the Independent Colleges of Indiana in June
2010.
A native Hoosier and graduate of one of ICI’s member institutions, the
University of Evansville, Ludwick served as provost at St. Gregory’s
University in Oklahoma before joining ICI. During his tenure there, he
led initiatives resulting in the redesign of the curriculum of the
College of Arts and Sciences; a doubling in its student applications;
and a 15 percent enrollment increase in the College for Working Adults.
His background also includes improving student persistence rates to more
than 90 percent and guiding college re-branding and integrated marketing
campaigns.
Among his key goals at ICI are continuing to provide affordable access
for all students to the educational excellence offered by Indiana’s
independent colleges and universities; to enhance public understanding
of the tremendous contributions made by ICI campuses to Indiana and its
future; and to increase ICI’s level of service and benefit to its member
institutions.
Early in his career, Ludwick practiced law in Indiana before going on to
serve institutions of higher learning across the United States,
including positions as vice president of enrollment management and
student affairs at the Albany Law School (Albany, NY); assistant dean
for student and academic affairs at the University of Florida’s Fredric
G. Levin College of Law (Gainesville); and dean of students at the
University of Oregon School of Law (Eugene).
In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of
Evansville, Ludwick holds a Master of Arts in higher education
administration from Teachers College of Columbia University (New York);
Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Law School
(Indianapolis), and Doctor of Education in policy management and
organization of higher education administration from the University of
Oregon (Eugene).
He and his wife, Melynda, a Butler University alumna, have two children,
son Richard, III, a high-school senior, and daughter Christianne, a
college sophomore.

Tony
Maidenberg
Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Tony
has served with ICI since February 2001. An attorney by training,
he graduated from Indiana University in 1969 and from the Georgetown
University Law Center, Washington, D.C., in 1972. Tony served terms as
mayor of his hometown of Marion from 1976 to 1979 and as an Indiana state
senator from 1988 to 1992.
Tony lives in Marion with his wife, Jenny; they
have three children, Molly, Micah, and Nancy. |

Patrick Alles
Director of Research and Technology
Patrick joined ICI as Director of Research and
Technology in 2003. He leads all of the association and foundation
research projects which cover many aspects of higher education. These
include public policy, academic planning, research, and fundraising.
Patrick has been involved in such projects as managing our longitudinal
data systems (LDS), the Indiana High School feedback report,
consortium-wide projects focusing on retention and persistence and net
price calculator, producing the annual factbook, and an annual
instructional technology summit.
Patrick has also served on a number of projects for
the US Department of Education including the NPEC R&D panel. Most recently,
he is serving on the NPSAS12 survey on student aid and the Common Education
Data Standards stakeholders group.
Majoring in geography, Patrick
earned his bachelor's degree at Michigan State University and his master's
degree at Wayne State University and is completing his Ph.D. in geography
from Indiana University with a dissertation titled “Internationalization
Strategies for Small Liberal Arts Colleges”. He stays active in the
classroom as adjunct faculty at IUPUI and torments students with his
“Geography is Everything" mantra.
Patrick enjoys long distance
running and participates in the NYC Marathon whenever he can get in, and
completed the 2011 LA Marathon. Patrick lives (and runs) with his wife,
Danette, in Beech Grove.

Laura Bridges
Director of Finance-Manager of Student Accounts, Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program
Laura is a graduate of Franklin College where she received her bachelor
of arts degree in business management and marketing. She came to ICI
in July 2006 after several years in banking, most recently as a bank
branch manager in Indianapolis. As LECSP Program Bursar, she works
with community foundations and colleges & universities across Indiana
to manage the tuition payment process for the Lilly Community Scholars
Program. Laura enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors with her
family at their Shelby County home. |

Nanette M. Dumm
Director of Administrative Services
Nanette Dumm directs fiscal, operational,
and personnel matters for ICI.
She joined ICI in June 2000 after more than 20 years in the for-profit
business world. She spent the previous 18-plus years as a bookkeeper
and insurance coordinator managing as many as 10 smaller
companies within a managerial company.
Nanette and her husband, Phil, live in Morgantown and are the parents
of two very active daughters.

Marcia W. Goodner
Director of Development Services & Programs
Marcia W. Goodner provides research and
analysis data for the ICI development team, primarily to identify,
cultivate, and solicit potential donors. She
also designed and continues to maintain ICI's tracking system for prospective
donors.
Marcia
has been with ICI since 1990, starting as a development associate. As the first researcher, she established
ICI's foundation research office. She
is a member of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement
in Indiana (APRA-IN), serving as treasurer of that organization for eight years. Marcia
received her BS degree from INDIANA TECH and has
received certification from the Grantsmanship Center. Goodner is active with many inner city youth organizations and her
local church, where her husband is pastor. |

Mary Ellen Hamer
Director
of Strategic Communications and Outreach Programs
In January 2005, Mary Ellen Hamer joined the ICI staff as director of strategic communications and outreach programs. Between 1992 and 2005, she provided PR leadership for two of Indiana's largest public school districts: the MSD of Lawrence Township (Indianapolis) and the South Bend Community School Corporation. Prior to her time in public education, Mary Ellen served on the staff at Culver Academies (a private secondary school in Indiana), first as a member of the faculty and then as editor of the school’s alumni magazine.
Mary Ellen earned her APR (Accreditation in Public Relations) in 2001. She grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania and earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Marywood College (now University) in Scranton, PA. She and her husband Paul live in Indianapolis and are the parents of one
college-aged daughter and four adult children. |

Robert Hodge
Executive Director of Collaborative Services
Bob consulted with ICI for three years before joining the ICI staff in 2004. Previously, he was a vice president at Taylor University, administering planning and strategic initiatives. Bob brings significant experience in multi-organizational collaborations in education, non-profit organizations and information
technology.
Bob lives in Upland with his wife, Susie. Both received undergraduate degrees from Washington State University and graduate degrees from Eastern Washington State University. They are the parents of two grown daughters. Apart from ICI, Bob engages local and international nonprofit organizations in board, leadership and organizational development. |

Linda Meador
Executive Assistant
Linda Meador rejoined the ICI team in September 2005. She originally started with the Independent Colleges and Universities of Indiana
(ICUI) in 1990. When ICUI (now ICI) and the Educational Facilities Authority
separated office spaces in 1993, she remained administrative assistant for
the Authority until it disbanded in 2005.
Linda and her husband Rick live in Edinburgh, and are the parents of three children. She enjoys
spending time with her animals and loves the
outdoors. Linda is a fan of pro football, especially the Colts. |

Peg Miller
Director of Programs,
Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship
Program
Peg joined ICI in August 2003. As program officer, she assists the
community foundations with administration and support of the scholarship
program. Prior to joining ICI, Peg was director of cooperative education
at Butler University. She also has corporate business experience,
primarily in management information systems. Peg received an M.A. in
College Student Personnel from Ball State, where she also earned her bachelor's
degree in education. A native Hoosier, Peg has lived in the Indianapolis area
since 1985. She enjoys hiking and biking and is an avid gardener.
She also serves as a volunteer with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra
and Meals on Wheels.
