The Strategic Issues of Open-Source vs. Proprietary Source Software Solutions

This panel discussion is designed around three segments:
  1. Defining Open Source and the terminology surrounding it,
  2. A Point-Counter Point debate identifying the pros and cons of Open-Source and Proprietary Systems (resource demands on cost, time, expertise, flexibility, customization, and integration)
  3. Sharing examples that illustrate the strategical and tactical elements of both systems and the risks associated with each.

This session is also aimed at sharing the short term and long term planning associated with either system or a combination of systems.
