Dear Indiana College Trustee:

We are very pleased to invite you to attend a conference for trustees and board members of Indiana independent colleges and universities to be held on Monday, March 7, 2005, in Indianapolis at the Fort Harrison State Park, The Garrison Conference Center. The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude by 4:00 p.m. Gratis housing will be provided on Sunday night, March 6th, for those whose primary place of residence is more than two hours driving distance (approximately 130 miles) from Indianapolis. For those who arrive by early afternoon on Sunday, March 6th, Fort Harrison offers a splendid public golf course. The suggested conference attire is business casual.

Funded by a generous grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., the conference is designed to bring trustees together from a variety of campuses in a comfortable and enjoyable setting so that they might learn from national experts and one another how to carry out their institutional governance roles more effectively. We are very pleased to announce that Gordon Wishard, an Indianapolis attorney and a trustee of the University of Indianapolis, has agreed to serve as the conference chair.

This year the theme of the conference is “The Dynamics of the College Affordability Debate.” Two national experts on this subject will be on hand to help us consider this topic from a variety of perspectives.

To ensure that we reserve a place for you at this captivating conference, please return your completed registration form to us no later than February 15, 2005. There is no fee! Therefore, your submission of a registration is your personal commitment to attend. You also may register on the web at: http://www.icindiana.org/events/trustees/trustee_register.asp.

Sincerely,

Hans C. Giesecke, Ph.D.
