• Marian University's plan to start Indiana's first college of osteopathic medicine is endorsed by the Indiana Osteopathic Association and receives a $30 million anonymous gift.  

• Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance "grows its own" through ICI scholarship program.

• UPS officials deliver $83,700 scholarship check for students on ICI campuses.

• ICI students awarded Edward M. and Mary McCrea Wilson Foundation Scholarships.

• Five students from ICI campuses in the Fort Wayne area receive $500 book stipends from the Flora Dale Krouse Foundation.

• In June 2009, The Indiana Academy inducts six leaders for lifetime achievement and contributions to Indiana.

• Martin University, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana Wesleyan and Franklin College have been selected as the 2009 winners of the Ball Brothers Foundation Venture Fund competition, sharing $76,000 in seed funding for innovative start-up initiatives.

• Indiana Wesleyan University has been selected to host the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for 2010 through 2012. 

• More than 200 students from 20 ICI campuses visit the State House to stress importance of need-based financial aid through SSACI grants.

• The Russell P. Heuer Foundation provides $10,000 for scholarships to four ICI chemistry majors.   

• Two ICI campuses share $20,000 grant from JPMorgan Chase Foundation for "overcoming barriers and challenges to education" programs.

• Fifth Third Bank establishes new Second Wind Scholarship program with ICI for minority women on Indiana's independent campuses.

• Old National Bank awards financial studies scholarships to students on ICI campuses.

• Indiana's independent colleges and universities fare well in the 2009 America's Best Colleges rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
