HAMMOND -Calumet College of St. Joseph in Hammond has selected Amy McCormack to serve as its seventh president. McCormack, who is currently senior vice president for finance and administration at Dominican University in Illinois, will begin her new role July 1.
McCormack will succeed Daniel Lowery, who will be taking a short sabbatical before returning to the institution as a full-time faculty member. Her appointment was a unanimous choice by a search committee formed by the college's board of trustees.
"After many months of interviews, meetings and surveys that involved input from the Board of Trustees, Administration, Faculty, and the student body, Dr. McCormack stood out as the leading candidate from a pool of over 80 applicants," said Larry Meyers, chairman of the board of trustees. "I speak for the entire Board of Trustees of Calumet College of St. Joseph in welcoming Dr. McCormack to our college family."
McCormack has been with Dominican University since 1991 and served in a number of roles, including controller and vice president for business affairs.
"Calumet College is well positioned for the opportunities and challenges facing higher education," said McCormack. "I look forward to building upon a solid foundation and working with colleagues and the Calumet community to ensure a bright future. I believe my commitment to the Catholic mission, entrepreneurial spirit, and energy will enhance all that Calumet College of St. Joseph has to offer."
