For more than 150 years, students have chosen Butler University to prepare them to meet the challenges of the future in a growing global economy.
Butler provides an intellectually challenging environment for the learning and developing of leadership skills, interaction with a dedicated faculty, excellent preparation for a career or graduate school, and hands-on experiences in the dynamic capital city of Indianapolis.
Recognized as one of the “Top 10 Midwest Master’s–level Universities” by U.S. News & World Report for more than 20 consecutive years, Butler prepares students to be critical thinkers, effective communicators, and versatile leaders. Students explore different ways of understanding the world, experiencing cultures diverse from their own, and learning to appreciate the value of learning and serving.
Located on 295 picturesque acres in a residential neighborhood, Butler offers studies through six academic colleges: Arts, Business, Communication, Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The success of Butler students is evident in annual placement rates between 93 to 97 percent for students in careers in their fields of study and in graduate and professional schools.
Butler students participate in Division I athletics; distinctive programs like the Washington Learning Program; one of the largest U.S. study abroad programs; volunteerism and service to the community; and more than 150 student organizations. Through the Butler Summer Institute, students have the opportunity to collaborate one-on-one with faculty mentors on intensive research projects of their choosing.
To supplement the educational, social and spiritual growth of the campus community, Butler has hosted an amazing roster of recent speakers, including former Presidents William Jefferson Clinton and George H.W.
