Return and Complete

An Indiana Commission for Higher Education Initiative

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is providing a website portal for students with some college but no degree to learn about their options and express interest in any of Indiana’s colleges or universities.  The Commission’s portal provides filters to help students identify possible institutions for completing; these filters include field of study, degree level, preferred learning style (face-to-face, online, hybrid), geographic location and previously attended institutions.

Indiana public universities are required by law to participate in this initiative.  For ICI colleges, it is a voluntary choice.  Here are your options:

Partnership

·      Highest level of involvement

·      What it requires/means:

o   Complete this survey by September 30

o   Designate a campus Return and Complete Concierge who will serve as the point of contact for students and the Commission

o   Submit student information to the Commission of those students who have stopped out from your institution within the past ten years (those with 30 credits towards a bachelor’s degree or 15 credits towards an associate’s)

o   These data files will be checked against the National Student Clearinghouse (to see if any of these students completed somewhere else), returned to ICI, and then forwarded to the Commission for its marketing firm to research for their current contact information (consistent with FERPA, only directory information will be shared with the marketing firm)

o   The updated contact information on these students will be shared with you

o   These students will be contacted by email by the Commission about Return and Complete and you will be able to contact them, as well, if you so choose

o   You will also receive contact information from the Commission on any other students that indicate interest in your institution’s academic programs

Participation

·      Next level of involvement

·      What it requires/means:

o   Complete this survey by September 30

o   Designate a campus Return and Complete Concierge who will serve as the point of contact for students and the Commission

o   You will not be required to submit student information of stopped out students from your institution; therefore you will not be able to utilize the Commission’s marketing firm’s efforts to research current contact information on this group of students

o   If students request information from the Commission about your institution, you will receive these student-initiated leads and have the opportunity to follow up on them

Decision not to Participate/Opt Out

·      What it requires/means:

o   Check the box on the survey indicating this decision

o   Provide an email address (e.g., admissions or adult education) for the Commission to provide to students to contact you on their own if they have expressed interest in your institution’s academic programs
