Saint Joseph’s College, a private, Catholic institution of higher education, was founded in 1889 by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.
Dedicated to individual learning, SJC prides itself on delivering academic excellence and instilling in students the message of the Gospel for use in their personal lives and professional careers.
Its nationally recognized Core Program challenges each student to examine his or her own values, as well as to welcome the ideas and opinions of others.
Overall, 98 percent of SJC students receive some sort of financial assistance. The average financial aid package awarded is $27,528; the average out-of-pocket expense for families was $9,102 for all undergraduates.
SJC has 27 majors, four group majors, 35 minors, and nine pre-professional programs, each with several tailored concentrations.
The college is listed in the Princeton Review’s “Best Midwestern Colleges” online publication, Barron’s Best Buys in College Education, the Colleges of Distinction Guidebook and as one of the “Top 40 Best Midwestern Comprehensive Colleges” in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”
SJC provides its students with the personal one-on-one attention needed to build strong professional relationships. Faculty and staff employ a welcoming open-door policy.
Career development and alumni networking often result from such tightly knit relationships, allowing many students to participate in internships during their college careers and acquire valuable future professional contacts.
Recent survey results show that 98 percent of the graduating class is employed or attending graduate school within a year of graduation.
Rensselaer is conveniently located off Interstate 65 between Lafayette and Merrillville.
