Richard L. Ludwick, JD, DEd, has announced his intention to step down as President and CEO of Independent Colleges of Indiana in June 2017 to become the ninth president of the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, effective July 1, 2017.
Since 2010, Ludwick has led ICI to success through a time of mounting challenges for higher education. “By any objective measure, we are stronger because of Richard’s leadership,” said Dr. Bill Katip, ICI board of directors’ chair. “During his seven-year tenure, Indiana’s private colleges have experienced growth in enrollment, student aid, collaboration among our membership, and recognition by policymakers and the public of our educational and financial value to the state.”
“Our time in Indiana has been wonderful for my family and me,” Ludwick said. “I have been privileged to work with 31 private colleges, their presidents, and faculty and staff who rank among the best in the country. Although I have loved my time at ICI, I feel called to serve students at the campus level of a great Catholic institution like the University of St. Thomas.”
The ICI Board will launch the search for Ludwick’s successor after the first of the year.
