BALL BROTHERS VENTURE FUND

Four ICI Colleges Share $75,000

Innovation, brought about by creativity and problem solving, is a hallmark of Indiana's private colleges and universities and the liberal arts education they offer. That innovative spirit was evident in the 2016 Ball Brothers Venture Fund competitive grant program. The four winners will share $75,000 in seed funding for initiatives to stimulating creativity and innovation while fostering competition and collaboration among ICI institutions:

  • Ancilla College ($20,200) will provide a web-based resource for students with Asperger’s syndrome and share it with faculty and staff at other ICI campuses.
  • Indiana Wesleyan University ($17,400) will partner with Brain Kitchen, a community kitchen and homework space for low-income children, to train volunteers and create activity space.
  • Taylor University ($17,400) will fund free ESL instruction for immigrant parents and their children, taught one-on-one by Taylor students.
  • University of Evansville ($20,000) will build a Changemaker Incubator within the library to support social entrepreneurs and their start-ups.

Over the past 18 years, the BBVF program has provided more than $1.1 million in funding to ICI colleges.
