Founded in 1834, Franklin College is a residential, four-year, undergraduate liberal arts institution with a scenic, wooded campus located 20 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis.

Franklin College is well known for its outstanding faculty and academic programs that promote critical thinking, effective communication, creativity, and innovation. Franklin is where lasting relationships are formed with professors, who are often called upon for guidance long after graduation. It’s where students have a unique opportunity to grow and where leaders are born.

With more than 55 majors, 41 minors, and 11 pre-professional programs to choose from, declaring a major is anything but easy. It might help knowing that our flagship programs include athletic training, business, journalism, pre-med, and education. Franklin College also offers a Professional Development Program and an Intercultural Honors Experience and is one of the few U.S. colleges with Leadership Studies built into the curriculum.

The academic calendar includes two traditional four-month semesters and a month-long winter term. The month of January provides students with the opportunity for specialized study, travel abroad, and internship experience. Although the course offerings change annually, past examples include studies in civil rights, theology and film, public relations, journalism, and the Indiana Legislature. International travel has included studies in Belize, France, and Uganda. Students also have the opportunity for month-long internships with companies such as Eli Lilly & Company, Dow Chemical, WellPoint, and the Indianapolis Star.

Franklin is home to more than 60 student organizations, through which students build friendships, social skills, and professional competence. Community service is an integral part of Franklin College life, with students contributing roughly 10,000 volunteer hours each year to the local community.

With its longstanding tradition of NCAA Division III athletics, Franklin offers 19 intercollegiate sports in which more than 35 percent of our students participate.
