Have Questions? We have Answers

31 (and many more) Answers to Your Questions About College

Yesterday marked day one of ICI's newest initiative, a 31 school-day series of videos answering frequently-asked questions about college from students and parents. On its first day alone, 31 Answers drew almost 1,000 visits to the site,

Each day's question (e.g., "Should I take the SAT or ACT?" or "What if I don't know what I want to major in?" or "Can I afford to go to a private college?") is answered via a featured video created by students and staff on ICI campuses. There is also a transcription of the video in English and Spanish, as well as supplemental video answers and other resources. The 31 Answers concept arose out of discussions with high-school guidance counselors, and the questions were curated from their input, as well as that of their students and  ICI admissions professionals.

31 Answers will conclude on October 31 but remain as a resource on the ICI website. In addition to small daily prizes like Dairy Queen certificates, students viewing and answering brief questions about the featured videos will have a chance to win one of two $5,000 scholarships, provided by ICI corporate partner F.A. Wilhelm Construction Co., Inc., at the conclusion of the campaign. The scholarship may be used upon matriculation at any one of Indiana's 31 private colleges or universities.

For Your Consideration

Sounds counterintuitive, doesn't it? Students who change their majors are more likely to graduate from college than those who declare one upon entrance.
