Northeast Indiana’s first doctoral program, Indiana Tech’s Ph.D. in Global Leadership, is celebrating its tenth anniversary during the 2019-20 academic year. To mark the occasion, the university will host special events throughout the Ph.D. program’s fall immersion weekend Sept. 19-21.

On Friday, Sept. 20, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will present a proclamation declaring the day “Indiana Tech Ph.D. in Global Leadership Day” in Fort Wayne at an anniversary luncheon to be held on Indiana Tech’s main campus. Over 100 current Ph.D. students, faculty and alums from around the world will be in attendance. Friday evening, the program will host a reception for community members, alumni, current students, faculty and staff to celebrate the anniversary.

Since its inception, Indiana Tech’s Ph.D. in Global Leadership program has graduated 81 students with doctoral degrees, attracting students from around the United States and 16 countries throughout the world.  From a first class of twenty students, the program has grown to over 150 current students. As part of the program’s curriculum, students over the years have taken part in 22 global practicums, educational trips focused on learning about leadership practices in a wide range of cultures across the globe.

The Indiana Tech Ph.D. in Global Leadership offers students two concentrations:  Organizational Management, and Higher Education Administration. The program is offered online, allowing students to pursue their doctoral degree while balancing the responsibilities of home and career. Indiana Tech also hosts two on-campus immersion weekends each year, during which students and faculty from around the world come together for in-depth learning experiences, networking and personal connection.

Dr. Angie Fincannon, director of the Indiana Tech Ph.D. program, notes, “Ten years is a special milestone for all of our students, faculty and staff. We’re extremely proud of all of our graduates and the leadership roles they have in organizations around the world. And we have strong momentum for the future. We continue to attract bright students from across the globe, and are excited about developing new programs to meet the needs of future generations of students.”
